Borg Event Rewards

Summary
How should you spend your Borg War Funds? Let’s walk though the rewards and look at the best way to spend your hard earned funds.

Overview

With the Borg Epic Arc winding down you may be thinking to yourself how do I spend all my hard earned funds? What will help me advance the quickest? Let's take a look at the rewards and the cost to figure out the best bang for the buck. The event rewards for this event vary based on player level, faction status and perhaps many other factors I am not yet aware of at this time. So you may not have access to the rewards I mention or may have more I do not know of yet... If you have new rewards please let me know.

Ohh any dont forget to exchange your Epic Borg Tokens (Below)

The Rewards Overview

First off there are a lot of rewards in this event giving you a TON of options to spend your event credits, Thanks Scopley! Regardless of your level the rewards are broken down into several different areas. Below are my groupings and initial thoughts on each.

Borg Officer Shards:

  • This is a mixed bag for me.. I generally am all in on officers but some aspects of the borg have me scratching my head while others I am all in on. For Borg Armadas 5 and 8 are very strong but without a known future of borg content are they worth it? 10of10 can be worth it if you mine a lot.

Ship Blueprints:

  • This is also a interesting subject. I maintain 2 drastically different opinions based on the blueprint. The blueprints available depend on level and faction rep but go all the way from the Jellyfish and Northstar, to Franklin and the Vi'Dar all the way up to the Enterprise and the other epic ships.

Active Nano Probes:

  • In general I think this is a waste of credits. I get all I need from refining daily, unlike the Franklin the Vi'Dar scales quite nicely into the higher tiers.

Independent Credits:

  • Depending on where you are in the game this can be major. Not only do the Augment crews require them but the Borg do now as well. Ohh yea, and the only reliable way to get them is mining data for 50 a day.

Borg Avatars:

  • I personally don't see a big draw to using credits on Avatars. They provide no value other then how you look when you type. They may excite some but since it has no effect on game play I don't see a reason.

Rare Materials:

  • For most not the big bottleneck in growing or powering up ships but its stopping you I dont think 2800 for a Rare is horrible.

Unc Materials:

  • Wow, *3 Uncommon is one of the biggest bottlenecks to growth in the game more importantly uncommon C3 it is just used for so much and the price 1900 for 5 unc is pretty good.

Ship Parts:

  • Always a no for me, you can grind these or use latinum.

Resources:

  • I think this depends on level and your game style, as someone who Raids a decent amount I will look elsewhere.

Ship XP:

  • Total waste, level your ships in glorious combat!

Recruit Tokens:

  • With all the faction hunt events out there offering the recruit tokens I don't see the value at 11,600 credits for one chest.

Missions:

  • I will update the Missions section with the Mirror Mirror missions and the new missions once released.

The Recommendations Ranked

The value placed on these items is my personal opinion but as a player in the mid 30's I've experienced a lot of the growing pains most players have experienced. I will go though my recommended use of the Borg War Credits and why.

#1 The Vi'Dar

The Vi'Dar is a good ship! If you are in your mid 20's it can be your primary battle platform until you unlock the lvl 28 ships. Additionally, the only way to get the Borg Transwarp cells daily is to have one. If you don't have a Vi'Dar this is the best use of credits because im sure just like the Franklin it will be behind a paywall from now on.

Vi'Dar Reward

#2 Ten of Ten

The best officer to protect your cargo has been T'pring but while she is on a ship mining something else the speed of mining gas is slowed. Any way to speed up those dailies is welcome in my perspective. Check out my 10of10 Review for more information.

10of10 Reward

#3 Independent Credits

As mentioned in my Officer Leveling Guide one of the best officers to level is Khan and getting independent credits is difficult at best.

Indepent rewards

#4 Franklin Blueprints

If you don't have a Franklin here is the way to get 1/2 the way there. While you can get the swarm sunday events done without the Franklin it makes it much cheaper and easier. You can curse me later for the FM grind.

Franklin Reward

#4 Five of Ten

The future of the Borg and events is less then certain but I expect there will be events in the future and this officer is the best way to mitigate the damage of the Mega Cube or in general.

5of10 Reward

#5 Uncommon and Rare *3

This stuff is essential to growth in the game and you have a reasonable way to buy the one you are in most need of.. *cough* c3 *cough*

Uncommon Reward

#6 Missions

Maybe?? The Mirror Mirror missions were a good way to get Spock shards, so if you need to upgrade your Spock this could be a good way to get a few extra shards.

#7 The Other Borg Officers

Why? Because outside of killing borg they have little use right now. Even with 7of10 killing probes is more efficiently using Pike. 8, 7 are the best bets here.

Other Borg Rewards

#8 The Untouchables

These are the items I would stay away from.

Active Nano Probes:

  • In general I think this is a waste of credits. I get all I need from refining daily, unlike the Franklin the Vi'Dar scales quite nicely into the higher tiers.

Ship Parts:

  • Always a no for me, you can grind these or use latinum.

Ship XP:

  • Total waste, level your ships in glorious combat!

Recruit Tokens:

  • With all the faction hunt events out there offering the recruit tokens I don't see the value at 11,600 credits for one chest.

#9 The Rest

The rest listed below, I think

Ship Blueprints:

  • Aside from the two listed too expensive for the faction ships.

Borg Avatars:

  • I personally don't see a big draw to using credits on Avatars. They provide no value other then how you look when you type. They may excite some but since it has no effect on game play I don't see a reason.

Resources:

  • I think this depends on level and your game style, as someone who Raids a decent amount I will look elsewhere.
Avatar Reward

In Summary

Like I mentioned there are a lot of options here to spend your tokens and how you do is personal preference. If you really want that Borg Avatar dont let me talk you out of it.
